This is for all the US people.
Being a political nerd, I of course have been following the [very
interesting!] national convention of the Republican Party. (That's the
more conservative of the two major parties, the other one being the
Democratic Party.) The theme being unity in diversity, this convention
featured African- and Asian-American speakers, and something I am SO
GLAD has finally come -- a Hispanic presence! The Presidential
candidate, a Texan named George W. Bush Jr. (the Bushes are fast
becoming the new Kennedys), and other members of his family speak
excellent Spanish. George W.'s nephew has a Latina mother.
I have to say I was impressed. I'm independent by the way. My dad is
a staunch Democrat and my mother is a long-time Republican. (That's
not why they divorced tbough.)
Anyway, I better ask -- is there an "official" Spanish version of "The
Star-Spangled Banner"? (The Democrats better come up with one quick if
they want to outdo the GOP....)
DaW.
