As I understand it (and I have read the Chicago Statement on Biblical
Inerrancy, which is supposed to be the official position of many of the churches
upholding inerrancy), "inerrancy" only applies to the original form of the texts
in their original languages, not to any translation or even to any possible
error in transmitting the original text. I have heard anecdotal tales of people
who believed in the inerrancy of the King James Version of the Bible in
English, but so far as I know that is not the official position of any major church.
