I haven't written any stories for my conworld yet (shock! horror!) but as for natlangs, Japanese uses "mukashi-mukashi", literally "old-old", with the implication of "very old, a long time ago". Fairytales are called "mukashi-banashi" or "old-stories". I think that Italian uses "c'era una volta..." (there was a time...) Imperative
