In Danish you have: å = /O/, o = /o/, u = /u/.
In Swedish: å = /o/, o = /u/, u = /8/.
In Norwegian: å = /o/, o = /u/, u = /u\/.
There are oddball words where _o_ is /o/ in
both Swedish and Norwegian, and in Danish short
vowels are frequently one step lower than
what their orthography suggests.
