Origin of the name Tech...

Okay, now I know how Tech got its name. (This is PURE LUCK. I had the
name several years ago, but just recently found a Nostratic root which
fits the name very well...)

From the Bomhard-Kerns list (601 in all):

131. Proto-Nostratic *t'ak[h]- / *t'ek[h]- 'to be fit, appropriate,
suitable, proper':

A. Proto-Indo-European *t'ek[h](s)- / *t'ok[h](s)- 'to be fit,
appropriate, suitable, proper'"

Sanskrit das'asyati 'to serve, to oblige, to honor, to worship', das'â
'condition, circumstance, fate', dak.sa-.h 'able, fit, adroit, clever,
dexterous, industrious, intelligent'; Latin decus 'distinction, honor,
glory, grace', decet 'it is fitting, proper, seemly' (>English decent);
Old Irish dech, deg 'best'; Greek dektos 'acceptable'; Old High German
gi-zehon 'to arrange'.

B. Dravidian: Tamil taku (takuv, takk- / takunt-) 'to be fit,
appropriate, suitable, proper, worthy, adequate, proportionate,
excellent; to begin; to get ready; to be obtained; to be deserved; to
resemble'; Kannada tagu (takk-) 'to be fit or proper, to suit'; Tulu
takka 'fit, suitable, proper, deserving, worthy' ; Malayalam taku 'to
be fit, to suit'; Telugu tagu 'to be proper, becoming, fit, suitable,
decent, worthy, competent.'

IE and Dravidian are the only two attested daughter families. Somehow
it surviced in Tech, an African language that would naturally be closer
related to Afro-Asiatic (aka Hamito-Semitic). In this contect, it
means, roughly, "a people [that exists] by the grace of God". The
national motto is, after all, "But for the grace of God".)
