Except that pronunciation guides for dictionaries tell you how a word is pronounced, whereas Manx spelling rarely gives you any clues as to a word's pronunciation! ;-) As ren Keith screeu:

Don't you mean Gaelic pronunciation? The Gaelic literary tradition -- including Gaelic orthography, in any of its varieties -- was lost in Man before Manx Gaelic was ever written down. Which is why... Manx orthography is essentially the result of people who only knew how to write English attempting to write Gaelic. Thomas
