IMO it would not be wholly amiss to use the Brithenig reflex of a would-be
Latin *Gartia. It is a disputed matter if the name is of Basque or Gothic
origin, but Spanish itself is very close to Latin as it is.
What would Benedictus Philippus become in Brithenig? As for the surname I
and Mr Cowan would be namesakes in Brithenig, since IIANM Ewan < Ioannes.
