Those were different times, when travel and communications were still slow
and people's perception of "the world" meant their little piece of the
world. The best they had then was a messenger on horseback. They didn't
have television, telephones, radio, the internet, airplanes, trains, cars or
any of those other recent inventions that allow us move about and
communicate almost instantaneously.
