I know, I know. But that's not what I heard (or have ever heard from an Argentine). I always meant to question Pablo about it, but never got around to it-- never argue with a native speaker and all that....Then too, he's from Rosario, not B.A. (The consensus of writers on Ideolengua seems to favor [Z] too, but many of them don't seem as linguistically knowledgeable as Pablo.)
