Don't you mean "Tinkering outside the box"? </me ducks>
My most recent conlanging had already led me to conclude that I tinker
with language rather than be creative with it before I read the essay.
I do not have the time nor the vision to aspire to creativity. It does
not upset me, I like to think I'm creating the detail in a miniature
rathter than an opus. In time I hope to have done enough to provide a
sketch.
