Hi! Sorry for my delayed reply... Here are some
samples of how to express thanks in Vya:a:h, my
conlang. (There are probably more, depending on the
scenario it is intended for.)
*************************************************
*************************************************
Conlang: VYA:A:H [vY&&@]
*Key for below
1. =Scenario for use of "thank you"
2. =Vya:a:hn transliteration, based on own script
3. =My attempt at showing IPA form (may be wrong)
4. =Form written by a layman American for@laymen
5. =Additional notes
1. Basic, daily expression of thanks
2. glhL
3. [kl@I]
4. gl'hi
5. Literally means "gratitude"
@ In #4, "i" is as in i of "mitten"
Wide range of meaning: "thanks, appreciate it" etc.
1. Show thanks politely, formally or with etiquette
2. glhLczosh
3. [kl@ICoS]
4. gl'hichosh
5. Vya:a:h [S] very much like Portuguese z in "luz"
Vya:a:h "cz" show ch as in "church"
1. Show profound thanks (eg, after being rescued)
2. hyy'yglhLczosh
3. [@Y:Ykl@ICoS]
4. hew'ew gl'hichosh
5. Words with "hyy" are always positive
Character "yy" [Y:] and char."y" [Y], more positive
Prefix "hyy'y-" similar to Japn. honorific "go-"
This one means "thank you, I am indebted to you"
1. Sarcastic thanks (eg, when you don't mean it)
2. glhLpah
3. [kl@Ipa@]
4. gl'hipah
5. Words with "pah" are always negative
Character "a" [a] is very flat, thus negative
Suffix "pah" as opposed to prefix "hyy'y"
This one means "thanks (I don't really mean it)"
1. Show thanks but a sense of refrain (eg, to drink
something offered to the speaker by another, etc.)
2. glh'ox
3. [kl@o:@]
4. gl'ho-ohh
5. Character "ox" [o:@] shows reservation, uncertainty
This one means "no, thank you" or "thanks but no"
Tokkiouusd-MaththyyuusL hyyvavoaazenoxdj L glhL!
