Actually "aa" represents a diphthong - - it could really be more accurately
represented as "ay" (that's pronounced like the English word "eye"), but I
write it as "aa." When you have three in a row, the first two are pronounced
like "eye" and then the third is a normal "a" - - this could be represented
as "aya."
