Surely the latter. Eng. "other" lost its nasal, as often happened in English and Frisian: us/uns, goos(e)/gans, etc. -- Winter: MIT, John Cowan Keio, INRIA, Issue lots of Drafts. So much more to understand! Might simplicity return? (A "tanka", or extended haiku)
