Well, scientifically speaking, the mothers hold a reservoir of billions of
individual mutated sperm cells, within theirspermatheca, an organ descended
from the female spider. It is unknown how the sperm is catalogued, but it
is assumed that a great bout of experimentation occurs early in the life of
a clan or caste mother. The results of these experiments typically turn out
to be unusable, and thus the failures are exiled from the clan. Those that
are useful are kept, with the sperm group that they came from catalogued.
It is unknown how the mother is capable of choosing the desired group of
sperm. It is, however, known that Tit'xka ovum are inert, and are specific
to the clan. The traits of these ovum can only be changed by creating a
brand new mother. One known case of this happening is immediately after a
clan of Tit'xka were virtually wiped out by a nation of mountain elves. The
clan mother made a deal with the nation to the effect that her clan would be
bred from then on with lower aggression, and higher sociability. This
required a new clan mother, since the ovum of the old one carried the
aggression genes that had caused the near extermination of the clan. The
old guard moved out after the new clan mother had matured enough to begin
the clan anew. As I said previously, the clan mother usually breeds caste
mothers so that they are incapable of producing more mothers.thus the
leadership of the Tit'xka is literally unquestionable.
