Well, I had thought it represented German ch! It is an aspirated k. I'm
using the Kirshenbaum(sp?) ASCII IPA. th in thin is /T/ th in these is /D/
sh in shin is /S/ and I had thought that ch in bach was /K/. Perhaps you
are using a different transcription system? maybe SAMPA?
