Saalangals prefer to use the patient focus/trigger when speaking to
people. The agent focus/trigger is used when speaking of ones' self, or to
a subordinate (so the first two are in patient focus/trigger).
- Gebasiang ket rong tayan - I welcome you (formal)
- Gebasiang ket rong - I welcome you (familiar)
- Kata! - Hi!, Hello!
- Mat! - hey! (used to get someone's attention)
- Ihasurung co masud - beautiful morning*
- Ihasurung co harey - beautiful afternoon*
- Ihasurung co igaw - beautiful evening*
note: c - /tS/
* Using "beautiful" instead of "good" for these greetings was ripped right
from Tagalog, because it's different and neat-o :).
