Isn't {comanche} also derived via a similar route? ISTR it's from a word (also Apache?) meaning someone who is vicious, agressive and generally uncouth. The Comanche for "Comanche", as I recall it, is /n@m@ne/, or something along those lines? As to the derivation of, and other words for, "german", that's a subject that needs a list just for itself, I fear <G>. --- Pb
