(BTW: I don't know why, but, for some reason and somehow, the software
seems to have opened a separate thread for nearly every reply.)

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I copied that line out of the front of the anthology "Cthulhu 2000" (probably
the same book that other guy got it from). Well, nearly copied; the accent on
the iota in "σοί" should be grave instead of acute, if I remember correctly.

(And that is the non-Greek reason for "Cthulhu" that Ray mentioned.)

I had no idea Theodoros Philetas was a real person. Perhaps whoever came
up with this quote didn't know either; in any case probably he or she didn't
mean any non-fictional person, but at worst another, fictional person who just
happened to have the same name as the real guy.

I like all of the offered translations, some better than others. Probably by
coincidence I feel the ones that fit into the story-line better also happen to be
the ones that require the least correction to the spelling of the
fictional "original".

Thanks all.
