Ah, I see.
On the first page of _Finnegans Wake_ we have this lovely sentence:
What clashes here of wills gen wonts, oystrygods gaggin fishygods!
where the Ostrogoths and the Visigoths become shellfish- and fish-eaters
respectively; "gaggin" is German "gegen", but also what happens when
different peoples contemplate each other's diet.
