No, it was reviled throughout Europe, so it must have been
more successful than that ... Travelers and sailors all used it,
mixing in whatever lexemes got the ideas across. I now partly
believe the theory that it LF was the parent of most surviving
pidgins and creoles via sailors/invaders/missionaries/slavers etc.
If someone hadn't already done such a good job of it, I'd be
tempted to recreate it (*very* badly).
