Precisely.  You have to road-test your ideas to discover whether or not
there's any rubber to hit the road, just as you have to speak the languages
you learn in as ordinary a situation as you can find, before you know whether
or not you understand them.  Anyone can look up a tour-guide.  But it's not
the way to fluency.
