Also with sibilants: face/phase, race/raise, sip/zip, puce/pews, close (adj)/close
(v), and the infamous misspelling of "loose" for "lose."
Of course, (in English) vowels become long before voiced consonants, so most of
these are [CVs] vs. [CV:z], so a bit of static there.
