http://classweb.gmu.edu/accent has a fascinating survey of 300+ different English speakers (including natives from a variety of locales as well as non-natives of many different backgrounds) reading the same paragraph. You can listen to the recordings and view a transcription in IPA, so among other things it's a good way to get a feel for the correspondence between the IPA and actual speech. -Mark
