I haven't read Beekes yet, but I did read Szemerényi, and he's too conservative for my taste (especially his attempts to posit as few laryngeals as possible, at all costs). As for Brugmann, he's of course out of date and mainly of historical value. A book that looks very good to me hasn't been mentioned here yet: Benjamin W.
