More obviously cognate to "gesund", which compounds into "Gesundheit". OE
|gesund|, however, is pronounced [jezund], I think, and the German is
prounounced [g@zUnt](That's how my imperfect German pronounciation does it,
anyway).

The /d/ is quite new. In ME it was |soun|, and the verb was |sounen|.
