Depends on if you like Beethoven, I guess. He used parts of
Schiller's poem to form the Chorale of his Ninth Symphony. The
first bit goes:
Freude, schöne Götterfunken, Joy, beautiful spark of the gods,
Tochter aus Elysium, daughter of Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken intoxicated by fire we enter
Himmlische, dein Heiligtum! your sanctuary, Heavenly one!
(It sounds so much better in German! Then again, maybe that's
because the ridiculousness of it is cloaked behind the foreign
phonology...)
