You would be amazed what people think are native to California :).

This reminds me of something, my friend Kate who moved to California (then
moved back) from Rhode Island mentioned upon getting here how it smells
like Eucalyptus all over the place. I have never noticed the smell unless
crushing the foliage and smelling it up close. I guess after a while your
senses get deadened to the smells that are constantly around you. (and i
normally dislike the odor).
