I think that the alternations like _keep_ :: _kept_ are
very strong evidence for the pronunciation [ke'ep] or [ke:p]
for the Classical and Early Postclassical period.
An analysis of misspellings in the remaining fragments of
the famous "Conlang archives" would be very helpful in
elucidating the details.
