    Everyone has a universal translator implanted in their brain, so it
doesn't matter what language they speak.  They can also turn it off and on at
will, so that, for instance, they can say a Klingon word and it comes out as
Klingon to whoever's listening, as opposed to being decoded by the universal
translator.  I thought everyone knew that...
