Conjunctions

As with other romance langs, and conromance langs like Narbonósc :), there
is a distinction between conjunctions of coordination, and conjunctions of
subordination. These are fairly unremarkable in form or function, I think.

Conjunctions of coordination

e /e/ - and
o /o/ - or
mas /mas/ - but
pero /pero/ - but (not nearly as popular in usage as mas)
sino /sino/ - but, rather, except
aunque /aunke/ - though, although
pòs /pOs/  - since, because, for, well, then
ne /ne/ - neither, nor
pol /pol/ - for

linking phrases:

no solo ...  mas tambèn - not only...but also
tanto ....como - as.....as also
a pesal de - in spite of
sin embargo - however, nevertheless
o ... o - either ... or
ni ... ni - neither ... nor


Conjunctions of Coordination

Note: In a dependent clause after certain conjunctions of time, a
subjunctive is used to express future actions or a state of being that is
still pending, or hasnt yet occured. This is quite common in speech:

Cuando sea grand/maiol... - When I'm older...


como /komo/ - as, like
cuando /kwanDo/ - when
como /komo/ - as, like
porque /porke/ - because
pòs que /pOs ke/ - because
si /si/ -  if
**ants (de) que /ants De ke/ - before
**depòs de /DepOs De/ - after
**en cuanto /en kwanto/ - as soon as
**ásta que /asta  ke/ - until
mèntras que /mEntras ke/ - whereas
mèntras /mEntras/  - while
**como si /komo si/  - as if
**con tau (de) que /kon taw De ke/ - provided that
sèmpre que /sEmpre ke/ - provided that
desd que /dezd ke/ - since
**pora que /pora ke/  - so that
**a menos que /a menos ke/ - unless
**en caso de que /en kaso De ke/ - in case
**bèn que /bEn ke/ - although , even if (when used with subjunctive)

** a subjunctive always occurs in dependent clauses introduced by these
conunctions
