JimG -- Although a lot of discourse markers, especially the temporal ones,
are going to be plain old adverbs and conjunctions, I'm using a single
particle to derive a number of discourse markers from verbs and clauses.
For instance, my particle + a relative clause specifies a topic.
Particle + the verb for "return" signifies resumption of topic, and often
translates as "anyway."
These are just two examples: the whole system is bigger.
