So glad you aksed! In my Alpha Centauri Alpha world where the Lakhabrech
hunt and the Rakhebuitya fish, there is a subculture in the Cities where the
outcasts - self outcasts and others - from the Lakhabrech and Rakhebuitya
villages go and mingle with similar outcasts from the Cities.
Lakhabrech call them - contemptuously - Aiyani Tshiglani - the Self-Broken -
because they break their claws so as not to be perceived as a threat by the
standard City populations, and they intermarry with the down-and-outs of the
City populations, and after a while you find that the shanty-towns are full
of yet another link in the cline of human variability - humans with big
crocuta-like jaws like Lakhabrech but with the smaller, sharper claws of the
Rakhebuitya, humans with ursine jaws like the Rakhebuitya but with the sharp
toe claws of the Lakhabrech, etc.
Of course they occasionally find their way upstairs and proceed to shock the
elite with their intelligence and general bloodthirstiness, though the elite
are generally bloodthirstier in trying to hold them down.
Because of the shock of the Earth-Centauri contacts, the current elite are
likely to be the last "pure" City elite - the Earth "visitors" in their
attempt to understand the nature of the Centauri world, are quite disruptive,
hiring only the best, and that includes some very sharp cookies among these
shanty-town inhabitants.

Mau e ki, "He aha te mea nui?"
You ask, "What is the most important thing?"
Maku e ki, "He tangata, he tangata, he tangata."
I reply, "It is people, it is people, it is people."
