The "tick" sound is noticeably different, since the velar egressives have a
smaller resonating space than the glottal egressives. Also, velar
egressives are likely to be pronounced with a separate velar release. I
tried several times to get a good velar egressive "t", and when I finally
got one that sounded reasonably good, I noticed that it had a very distinct
"k" sound after the "tick".

Like clicks, I find these sounds easier to produce with a simultaneous
nasal.
