The later is supposed to be a fairly mundane sort of fellow, who just codes, and the former a more lofty individual whose competence includes everything pertaining to computers. Of course, as a technical physicist, I consider both categories to be insufferable geeks. ;) (Tangentially, I was accused yesterday of being a hopelessly techy sort of fellow after describing a young woman, who is looking to do a PhD in theoretical physics, as a "typical girl".
