I think I better chime in now with a question -- the book I have, |The
World's Major Languages|, shows the diphthong as being /VH/, but another
book I read has /9H/. Are both true for different dialects?
I hope it's /9H/ since it's one of my favorite sounds, also found in
Norwegian as |øy| and <shameless plug> Tech as |au| in a fronted environment
due to umlaut/vowel harmony (still haven't worked out the specifics yet --
I'm changing the vowel rules by the way).
