Back in my expat Japanese days, the word "genki" ("healthy, well, sound") from "ogenki desu ka?" came to mean through overuse "(excessively) effervescent". So if you met someone who was aggressively, forcefully chipper all the time, you'd say, "God, she's just so genki!" "Stop being so genki!" meant "You're bringing the room down with your cheerfulness; chill!" Kou
