Yes indeed! I like this feature, but maybe that's because I partially have it in my idiolect (I generally only raise /ai/ and not /au/, but with the added bonus that I often raise /ar/ before voiceless sounds!) I think some people around here (Wisconsin) also have the /au/ raising, in fast speech at least; then again, some people around here don't have /ai/ raising. *Shrug* I've thought of using a similar phenomenon in a conlang but haven't, yet.

I've heard of this show and would love to be able to see it sometime, but alas the only Canadian shows we get here are either educational, things that air on Home and Gardening Television, an cartoons from the National Film Board, and the Kids in the Hall. Hmm, come to think of it that's quite a few, but still not enough :O) Anyway, Jay Leno does a similar segment on the Tonight Show where he asks people in LA different kinds of questions that anyone should really know, and some of these people end up sounding really stupid. I suppose they probably have to ask a lot of people a question though before they get an answer dumb enough to air... I hope so at least!
