Hm, I wouldn't be too sure of that. French loanwords are typically stressed
on the final syllable, and there's many other examples of loans retaining
their original stress or otherwise fail to conform to Latin stress. I think
it's rather analogy with the many Greek words that've reach us thru' Latin.
