Thanks for the explanation! So a just intonation scale takes all the notes as
whole number fractions of a basic note, while temperaments take the ratio
between two consecutive notes to be equal. Interesting. Is there any reason
other than historical for A=440Hz to be the basic note from which the Western
scales are based on?
