Hmm, this reminds me of Japanese which, according to a book I have, prohibits expression of inner states of other people. Therefore, you cannot directly say 'You want to eat the food' in Japanese. You'd have to say 'You seem to want to eat the food' (or 'I looks like...' or....). <<<< More detail on Japanese (I set aside the different verbal forms required for politeness like omeshi agaru, etc) taberu---to eat tabetai---I want to eat (quite rude; everybody say onaka ga suita) tabete kureru---Else eat(s) for someone (usually for me) tabete (kurete) hoshii---I want else to eat (litt. "else's eating is desirable") tabemono ga/wa hoshii---I want food tabetagaru---Else look(s) like they badly want to eat tabesasetai---I want to make else eat etc µ
