Quite true...however, this will make it take slightly more CPU time to
generate a syllable, since there are more possible combinations.

Why does word length has anything to do with thinking speed? A more dense
word system would require more time to process and is more prone to
misinterpretation. So one way or another, it would require extra words to
make up for the loss of necessary redundance.
Also, when thinking of non-abstract things, most people do not think in
words, but in images and actions. Even children who are brought up without a
language can think as quickly as people with a normal language. Language is
not a requirement for sentience (alhough the opposite is true, I think).
