My friend knows an awful lot of phone numbers. I've nearly never seen him
checking his notebook to find a phone number. And yet he's unable to cite them,
unless he actually composes them on the phone. It looks like what he remembers
is the hand movement done to compose the phone number, not the number itself!
I personally cannot remember many numbers. I know only three by heart: my home
phone number (but it's an easy one. After the 070 indicating The Hague, it's
simply 321 345 3 :)) ), my work phone number (although I sometimes forget it)
and my parents' phone number (but that's because it was my phone number for
years). Even my phone number in Paris, which I used to know by heart,
completely evaporated since I moved to the Netherlands...
Christophe.
