En anglais, composer = dial, even though the dial is, for the most
part save folks in South Dakota (?), obsolete.
I do the same thing with familiar numbers. I can dial my father's
number in the dark. When asked what the number is, I need to dial in
space or on a table surface before I can generate the number verbally.
