uk licence plates have three forms, which have superseded each other first was LLL DDDL where the final letter indicated the year ( with letters such as o and z missed out for being too much like 0 and 2 ). all other parts were done sequentially second was LDDD LLL with the same provisions and the first letter indicating the year now we have LLDD LLL where the first two letters represent the place of registration, and the digits representing the half-year ( 01 is 2001, 51 is is second half of 2001, then 02, 52, 03, 53. i presume 2011 will be 11 and 61, but i'm not clear on this ) but in the uk we like changing things. the london phone code has had four different forms in the last 15 years : 01, 071/081, 0171/0181, and now 020 ( followed by 7/8 as part of the number itself ). you can tell how old a shop sign is by which version of the code it uses ( and there are a few signs near my work, mostly on old hotel signs, that still give the area code as a word : MUSeum 0561 frinstance ) bn ( who's not meant to be on email, but is doing a last ditch check ) ===== bnathyuw | landan | arR stamp the sunshine out | angelfish your tears came like anaesthesia | phèdre __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
