http://www.tiac.net/users/xen/scala/modename.html has a huge list of

Whoa, Byzantine and Arabic modes! Just what I needed!
Thanks for the link; I recognize a lot of these scales. Like the two-tone
Warao scale with tonic note and a major second down. I heard that in
Encarta. And I'm somewhat familiar with Messaiën.
And I like that name; Neutral Diatonic Dorian. It has a part-Dorian,
part-Phrygian feel, but the off-notes give the scale a really melancholic
feel. Everyone who's heard this tone said it sounded 'Arabic'; then again,
anything that's not 12-tone ET is 'Arabic' to a lot of people...
To hear what this scale sounds like, go to my homepage (URL at bottom of
post). Go to File Cabinet, open the Files folder, and listen to the file
scale.mid, plus some other original compositions. They're there, along with
arrangements of the Indian National Anthem (half-finished right now, and
I'll have other countries later), and a well-known tune from the old
Nintendo game, Castlevania.
