I didn't say "give up", just "don't try too hard". The point being that as
in any kind of science, if you really try really hard to prove something,
you will always succeed. It doesn't mean that the result you'll get will
have any meaning though.

Of course. But if you keep on try to find something out for too long,
you'll always find it out, but it will have become meaningless. If an idea
you're following just keeps evading you, you need to know when to recognise
it's not worth following any longer.
