BTW, are there any languages where markers (whether they're clitics, or
whatever) can have scope over more than one NP for some NPs, but some
require their own? Like maybe an animate/inanimate split... with
animates requiring their own. So you'd get:
for John for David
*for John and David (Animates require own marker)
but
with the rock and the saw
with the rock and with the saw
How would you deal with a case like this? Would such markers always
count as adpositions, or would you call them case markers for animates,
and adpositions for inanimates?
