Disclaimer: I'm just a happy customer.

Midsea Books of Malta has recently published a new edition of their
Maltese-English-Maltese dictionary. The regular price is LM 120 (about GBP
180), but they have a discount to LM 100 if you buy all six volumes in one
go. Their address:

Midsea Books Ltd
Carmelites Street
Santa Venera
Malta
HMR 156

tel: +356 497046, 496911, 496917
email: kkm@vol.net.mt

It is, of course, available from the usual websites
(www.booksaboutmalta.com) at the full price without the discount.

The dictionary itself is in 6 volumes, taking about 15 inches of shelf
space. Each major entry contains translation information, as expected, but
also etymology, related words, usage examples, compound word usage, and
spelling changes resulting from assimilation. This is quite possibly the
most complete commercially available dictionary for any single pair of
languages around. It has about 180,000 entries altogether.

And so it was that he resumed his drive into mediocrity with a happy heart,
secure in the knowledge that he was so pathetic that his challenge had been
refused by a person known to never refuse a challenge on the grounds that he
was a loony. Indeed, he had been effectively defeated without even being
touched at all. And better, he'd been defeated by a girl.
