Oh, yes, Shell scripts. I forgot. I use them a lot, too.

Be ensured that I will have a lock at it before I try Python. I
disagree about the fall-backs of layout rules, but I see you have
strong arguments for Ruby, so I will definitely give it a try.

Ok, so other people do it, too. Let scripts speak your conlang...
I just kind of finished programming the interlinear representation of
S7 in Lisp, so all the examples on my home page are nicer now. S7 is
totally in Lisp -- the whole webpage, including all text and of course
the grammar -- is written in Lisp.
As to the rendering of text: I used Metafont for Fukhian script --
unbeatable in quality and expressivenesss --, C++ for a
Latex-preprocessor for Fukhian and then C++ for the more complex
system of Tyl-Sjok, which produces PostScript. The 200+ radicals are
still mostly not implemented, though. The Latex-preprocessor for
Tyl-Sjok is written in Perl. All lexicons so far are in Lisp.
And: I got my 'Grammar of Kalaallisut' today. :-))) Interesting! :-)
