What about nit > nitK) > niK > nil > n_jil > jil > il ?

In Pinyin, it is 'Ribeng'. The hanzi there are U+65E5 'sun' and U+672C
'foundation'.
Mandarin 'ribeng', Japanese 'nippon', Korean 'ilbeong'. All the same.
